Background painting, visual development, production design, art direction and department head at some of the world's top motion picture studios such as Warner Bros, Dreamworks, Disney, Universal, Nickelodeon, Sony, Film Roman, Bento Box, Cartoon Network and Marvel among many others.
Michael's side business is storybook illustration where he creates his own work and also art directs a stable of notable animation artisans who together have provided hundreds of background and character paintings for many Disney/Pixar themed storybooks for well over a decade. Some recent animation projects include visual development & bg painting on Scooby-Doo for Warner Bros Animation and background paintings on Mickey Mouse at Walt Disney TV Animation.
Michael attended Ringling College of Art & Design and is an animation professional for television and film; he is also an adjunct professor of visual development, environmental design & digital painting for animation at the university level and has taught seminars on vis-dev & digital painting at Savannah College of Art. With a taste for adventure, weekends during the warmer months are spent as a whitewater river guide. Prior to attending art school he served for three years as a paratrooper in the US Army's elite 82nd Airborne Division.
